Port Monmouth is a small coastal community located in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. It is located on the eastern shore of the Raritan Bay, just south of Sandy Hook and north of the town of Keyport.
Historically, Port Monmouth was a bustling port in the 19th century, serving as a departure point for ferries to New York City. The town was also an important center for oyster harvesting and had numerous oyster saloons.
Today, Port Monmouth is primarily a residential community with a mix of single-family homes and townhouses. The town has a marina, a fishing pier, and a beach club. Various parks and recreational facilities, including Monmouth Cove Marina Park and Bayshore Waterfront Park, offer locals and tourists access to the beautiful Raritan Bay waterfront and outdoor recreation activities.
The town is served by the Port Monmouth and Middletown train stations, as well as bus transportation on the NJ Transit system. Port Monmouth is part of the Middletown Township School District, and local public schools include Port Monmouth Elementary School and Bayshore Middle School.
